Aftab Pureval | Mayor of Cincinnati

Born and raised in Southwest Ohio, Aftab’s record in public service drew Serve America to support his 2018 run for Ohio’s 1st Congressional District. As a special assistant U.S. Attorney, he prosecuted perpetrators of crimes against children and domestic violence. Then, he became the first Democrat to be elected Clerk of Courts in Hamilton County in over 100 years, and he revolutionized its courthouse operations, cutting waste and saving taxpayers nearly a million dollars in one year. Although Aftab lost his 2018 race, he was not dissuaded from serving.

In 2021, Cincinnatians elected Aftab to become their mayor, and he won another four-year term last November. Under his leadership, Cincinnati has experienced significant economic recovery. His accomplishments include balancing the City’s budget and committing to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
