Rep. Ruben Gallego | Arizona | 2024
The son of immigrants, Ruben is one of four kids raised by a single mother on a secretary’s salary with an absent father. He overcame the difficult circumstances of his childhood to attend Harvard University, where he worked numerous jobs to pay his way through school. He enlisted in the Marine Corps and served on the front lines in Iraq, where his company saw heavy fire and tragic loss of life. His combat and life experience inspired him to pursue a career in public service and he has been fighting for veterans and Arizona working families as an organizer, State Representative, and Congressman ever since. Ruben’s run has been met with wide support among Arizonans; he received one million dollars in donations by his campaign’s second day. If elected he will be Arizona’s first Latino Senator. In Congress, Ruben has been proud to defend Arizona and protect its water supply and natural beauty as a member of the House Natural Resources Committee. He has also served on the House Armed Services Committee where he is the current ranking member of the Subcommittee on Intelligence and Special Operations.
